Salvation, then Sanctification

Romans 7:4

"Never put the cart before the horse," so goes the old saying. And yet, many people try to put the cart of sanctification before the horse of justification. They may believe that God ultimately grants salvation as a reward for living a holy life marked by good works. But a life of true holiness is impossible unless God first imparts to you thefree gift of eternal life. Has God made you alive in Christ so that you might be enabled to live a godly life?
